Luxembourg Internet Days 2017: a great success!
LU-CIX was pleased to organise the 2017 edition of the “Luxembourg Internet Days” event, which took
place at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce on November 14 & 15. Along with the Luxembourg Prime
Minister, Xavier Bettel, some of the most influential ICT specialists and entrepreneurs from countries on
both sides of the Atlantic came together to clarify two of the hottest topics of the year in the ICT arena,
namely Digitalization for SMEs and DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service).
Like last year, the Luxembourg Internet Days saw an attendance of over 1,000 industry professionals. This
year LU-CIX aimed to keep improving, providing even more content, more interactive roundtable sessions
and more networking opportunities than ever before. Representatives from more than 500 companies join
the event, 30% of which came from outside the Grand Duchy; 10 stands, several panellists and speakers
directly came form Canada.
For its first day, Tuesday November 14, the conference concentrated on Digitalization for SME. The opening
day keynote delivered by Thierry Geerts, Google Country Director for Belgium, was very rich and inspiring
with regard to the impact of Digitalization on employment in Europe. The rest of the day examined
digitalization from inception to execution, and from paper to the cloud with high-level insights, testimonials
and sharing.
Wednesday November 15 opened with the addresses from Prime Minister Xavier Bettel together with
Canadian Ambassador to BeLux His Excellency Olivier Nicoloff. Then came a day concentrated on the very
real threats posed by DDoS Attacks (Distributed Denial of Service) with a more technical angle and very
high level inputs from key experts as usual at the Luxembourg Internet Days.
In addition to the conference itself, were an exhibition with 50 booths as well as a parallel series of
workshops, trainings and Serious games aimed particularly at Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and field
given by partners and key industry players.
